Josh Kelley reminded me of Teofimo Lopez in the beginning of the fight. Size advantage, fast, quick punches. But I guess Ava was much more physical than Loma.... that was almost the proverbial 'mexican style' from him with continuous pressure and body shots. Will trumped skill.

I told people all week Kelly was nothing special. When will UK fans learn?

To be fair, I agree with what Hearn said. As least Kelly took the fight. Too many people pad their record to 20-0, 25-0 or even worse. He didn't lose his pen and took a dangerous fight that he didn't have to at this stage. Well done to Avanesyan, gotta be a title eliminator at the minimum next.

If you sign with Hearn then you would be put in dangerous fights, yes you would fight bums but not up to a certain level. If Kelly was American he would still be fighting bums right now, especially if his promotional company is PBC.

It just got harder for Taylor. Ramirez is growing momentum. I don't think he'll be outdone by these guys.

On the contrary you fight journeyman with different styles to not only pad your record but to stay active, weight don't blow up in between fights and to stay ready. Like almost every boxer in history fought journeymen.

Josh Taylor is British, from Scotland.

Agree, Taylor is the real deal. A shame even the brits mix up Kelly and Taylor just because they have the same first name.

Kelly was hyped, invented a showboat-style to gain fans and feed his own narcissistic ego, without considering he did not have the physique, power and reflexes to box like that for 12 rounds. It only looked good against very poor journeymen, but even then he sometimes had to step back out of range when hit to pull off his steps, sometimes looking shocked he had been caught seconds before.

Kelly should fight for the British title, and take it from there. Eventually a not too good boxer will have the EBU title, and he might get another shot at a European title (EBU) with a winning chance, but I think that is his level and will be his career level at best. He does not have the power or stamina, and perhaps not the chin either, to go beyond that.

I hope Avenesyan gets a chance to fight one the world title holders and a good bag. I don't think he'll be less game than Kavaliauskas was against Crawford, for 5-6 rounds.

Got a three fight deal back in late 2019 after beating Lejarraga twice. First match was the Matchroom Spain show against Jose del Rio, second fight was this one against Kelly. Hearn gave him the fight deal to use him as a gate keeper for Josh Kelly, and insisted this was sink or swim for Kelly, to test him. If Avanesyan agreed to this plan, Hearn promised him a chance for a world title shot for his third fight.

I corrected myself later. I meant that he wasn't English. But he's legit IMO. Agreed on the rest.
