How is this supposed to be different than "Glovegate?"

I know I am not the first person to bring up a comparison between these two fights (I know YT channel Showbizz did some time ago), but I have never seen or read why proponents of Glovegate believe how what is seen here is different from what they believe about Fury's floppy gloves. I do know one of the bigger arguments i saw was people claiming they'd never seen gloves do what Fury's did, so i ma curious to if Ali's gloves are not doing the same thing they believe Fury's did, especially when we see Padilla grab Ali's glove?
PS: You wanna watch it in mute.

It isn't any different. Ali should have been called on cheating too.

I'm not one of those who propagates glovegate, but, one of the first things I keyed into was the fact that Fury was striking with an open hand. You can check the rules yourself, in no point in the entire history of boxing was open hand strikes legal. It's illegal in ancient pygmachia, it's illegal in all three version of bare knuckle, it's illegal before and after the unified rules. It's an illegal tactic just like low blows, rabbit punches, back hands, or double strikes.
