It sounds to me like he does not want to fight Spence. Why should he want to fight th dangerous Spence when he gets big money fighting guys like Khan and Brook?

That is not what he said. Bud has said numerous times he doesn't need Spence. He said:

"Idk why he's coming to my fight he said he don't need to me. I wouldn't go to his fights"
