Comments Thread For: Josh Warrington: IBF Belt, Kid Galahad Will Not Define My Career

The first thing Josh Warrington did when arrived in the bubble this week was redecorate. Warrington likes to cover his hotel room walls with motivational statements and not content with some hand scrawled signs, he has had professional signs made up.

I still think vacating may be a bad move.

I don’t think the other champions in the division are that easy to get into the ring and secure a fight with. Especially now he has no belt to offer.

Can Xu is most likely but even he pulled out once.

Wha a blatant duck. Most recent one I can think of is when Loma gave up his WBC belt to avoid facing his mandatory Devin Haney.

It is. Warrington is a high risk low reward fighter no one will fight him without a belt.

Yeah that too. He has a really high energy style which will cause anyone problems on his night.

Well he is a good ticket seller in Leeds but I think plenty of fighters these days will take two or three less risky fights in place of one risk.

Plus the fact we don’t know when big crowds will be back, so with no belt and no big ticket sales in Leeds, I think he’ll be left in the cold. Unless Hearn decides to vastly over pay Can Xu.

Warrington's career will probably remain undefined.

Especially as (eg Russell) Hearn isn't willing to pay the money necessary to get those fights.

A lot of what Warrington is saying sounds like he's reading Hearn soundbites rather than those "inspirational quotes" he takes comfort from.

Yup. Unless Hearn can offer outrageous money (he can't without a crowd) to other champions what's the point of fighting him? The reason the Xu fight fell through was the money got cut without a crowd. Xu is a regular belt holder. The other sanctioning bodies dont view that as a unification.
