Comments Thread For: Arum: Fury-Joshua is Biggest Heavyweight Fight Since Ali-Frazier 1

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who co-promotes WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, views the unification with Anthony Joshua as the biggest heavyweight fight since Muhammad Ali collided with Joe Frazier for the first time in March of 1971.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt (though he probably doesn't deserve it) and assume he means judged as a portion of the pie that is boxing.

Of course, boxing itself is a much smaller portion of the pie that is sport these days than it was in the days of Ali vs Frazier, which is why that fight was so breakout huge.

This fight has the potential to break out of the confines of boxing, appeal to the wider public and make mainstream stars of Joshua and Fury... Which is more than an be said of any active boxer other than Pacquaio, but it is a far cry from Ali and Frazier who were bonafide superstars even before they met.

This dudes geriatrics has definitely caught up to his already delusional brain

If Fury's finally forced to not use his open toe unpadded slip ons, it should eventually be lights out for the huge cheat in six.

I'd wager more people knew who Frazier and Ali were in the 70s than people know who Joshuah and Fury is today. Also, this fight should marinate for another 10 years #werenotready

He probably meant don’t talk about the negotiations, talking about the fight in general is harmless
