Ring also include a Champion with the numbers referring to contender status, so actually Ortiz is 6th according to Ring.
Not saying I agree he should be rated that highly by anyone, but there you go.

1st the suit was to heavy, then the gloves his corner checked and watched being put on had extra padding....now his trainer drugged him. For a guy that has failed to agree a rematch and was beaten up over two fights he talks a lot. Fury isn't liked by everyone, but he's a good boxer, much better than Wilder, and he hits hard with both hands. You can only fight what's in front of you, but you have to be realistic about what that is. There are less than 5 really good heavyweights, ALL of them can get knocked out by someone not as good as them. Wilder didn't train for 12 rounds against a good boxer. You can't cover up and absorb punishment waiting to get one big shot off if that opponent is going to be hitting you in the body, over and over again. To win against Fury you have to fight him back....and he didn't do that. The ref should have stopped the fight long before the towel came in and Wilder should have known he got soundly beaten up in the previous fight when Fury was out of shape. Fat Fury did 12 rounds smacking him around, what did he think fit Fury was going to do to him?

Everyone knows the people who were put in front of him were hand picked including Stiverne out of boxing 2 years basically, there were literally maybe 2 guys out of 6 fights not including Fury that he didn’t hand pick so there was no he had to defeat who was in front of him that’s a made up argument.
Most of Wilder fights were carefully planned . Fury wasn’t in the picture until 2019 and that was also carefully planned thinking he wasn’t ready so what about the years from 2015 to 2018 as Wilder held the title ? What fight besides Breazeale do you feel he needed to fight who was in front of him , where his grade as a fighter is unjustified ?

To reiterate: Fury and AJ are the only heavies that have a chance of beating Wilder. Everyone else is cannon fodder

And how can you be so confident with Wilder? What is there on his resume that gives you the impression everyone else is cannon fodder? Wilder lost almost every round against an aged Ortiz on blood pressure meds who has achieved nothing significant as an amateur or pro, and he routinely drops rounds to C-level journeymen. Against the likes of Ruiz, Povetkin and even Whyte, Wilder won’t have the luxury of doing the same without having his chin cracked or his body folded.

Originally posted by Boxing Goat View PostNo, I said he is fourth best, I was just embarrassing you for citing boxrec as an actual ranking source.
Povetkin who won an Olympic gold medal and in his old age outclassed Hughie Fury, drew against Michael Hunter and almost killed Dillian Whyte? Never mind the fact Ortiz ducked AJ and shamelessly tried to deny any contact before Hearn exposed his lies (reminds me of someone else come to think of it...)
The only possible reason for ranking Ortiz so high is to make Wilder’s resume seem more credible. There’s literally no other sense to it.
