I remember watching him fight live back in the 70s. It was Ali vs Spinks 1978 that made me realise that boxing was my favourite sport. Rest in power champ

Spinks Ali 1 and then 2 were the first fights I remember watching when I was 8. Been a fan ever since. RIP champ. Thanks for the memories.

He will remain forever a part of history boxing.

The high water-mark of boxing history ended with Ali vs Spinks. Everything that came after was an attempt to recpature that former glory. Those two bouts marked an end to a monumental epoch that will likely never be repeated.

He had a tough life, left a lot of himself in the ring and I thank him for his contribution to the sport. Rest easy, Leon.
