David Morrell vs John Ryder: Who Ya Got?

Looks like this fight is set or will be set soon for the World WBA title. Who you guys got in this matchup? Many felt Ryder won or deserved at least a draw against Callum Smith late in 2019 and he's been peaking since his loss to Fielding back in 2017. Pretty huge step up for Morrell who has not faced anyone of world class status since turning pro.

Intriguing fight for sure. Ryder may be able to expose the flaws of Morrell or the youngster takes his game to another level and shows his class against the vet.

I wasn’t impressed with Ryder’s last fight on the BJS Murray card. He basically went 12 with some sloppy ass dude. I guess he had a bad night, but I’d imagine Morrell will put on a way better fight than Ryder’s last opponent

      Bump.

This likely will take place in the UK, so what upcoming card can it be placed under?

Tough call. Any preliminary odds for this one or just guesses on what the odds will be?

Kinda see reasons to take either guy. When I feel like that I usually pick the guy who's the big dog for value in a 50/50ish fight or I take the guy who has more upside/the guy who's least washed. So unless Ryder is a big dog here I'm with Morrell. Morrell's a young, big, promising southpaw who's already making huge strides with only 4 fights. Ryder's lost his biggest fights & Morrell would probably be a top 5 W for him if he were to beat him which is not a good sign when its a 4-0 prospect & your a decade into your career.

Will it? I thought this would be a US based fight.

Ryder is a bit of free lancer, he’s always remained loosely affiliated to Matchroom but he’s boxed on Warren cards, Poxon cards, Sauerland cards etc.

I think this winds up on a PBC card. I doubt Matchroom will bid aggressively to stage this fight.

I’ll be rooting for Ryder but Morrell is the truth IMO so I think he’s up against it. Morrell by decision is my prediction.

I mean I just read that Hearn said he was in negotiations with the PBC and figured it would be a UK fight. Not like Morrell has any fanbase of any sort. But sure, I guess it can be a USA fight.

Hearn said April/May in the UK, hes been talking about a "monster PPV" for April 24th

                Warrington vs Xu
                Taylor vs Jonas
                Ryder vs Morrell
                Buatsi vs Caparello
                Hrgovic vs Bakole

                Rumoured fights. We'll see.

If Morrell is cheap enough they’ll possibly have it over here. I just think PBC view Morrell as a far bigger asset than Matchroom view Ryder.

I hope it is in the UK though.
