I think the social media age makes it easier to critisize fighters now, and I think that's a big reason with the perception of a fighters 0 now.

Anyone who loses one fight gets called a bum. It wasn't the case years ago, and it isn't about the best fighting the best, when 1 fights 2 now, the loser is just a bum.

It's hard to win as a modern day fighter, especially compared to the olden day ones, as times were different then.
Ah I see what you're saying. I had a similar rant earlier today about Korobov. Once he lost to Andy Lee he was a bum and couldn't get any fights.

Back in those days (Listons, not Korobovs) you wren't even thought to be ready for a title shot unless you'd taken a loss

Sonny Liston is one of those guys who never gets their due because he was just a little to early for the television revolution, so all of his fights weren't televised and people couldn't see a young ferocious Sonny Liston.

Yeah, that's par for the course on Boxing Scene for some reason. They put zero effort into proofreading here.

For some reason Hollywood doesn't want to make film on boxers that were reallu abusive. Like, where is the Robinson movie? It's the greatest story of all time. Rags, to riches, to rags. Hard to make a movie about a black guy slapping his wife around now I guess.

Liston is a great story that needs someone like Oliver Stone behind it.

Yup, Stone would give him the JFK treatment.

I would love to see a guy like Liston fight in more recent eras, to see how it would go. A bit small for the division but he was an impressive fighter on film.
