Why is this even debatable. “Not have many gears” lol. Yet his accurate compu box, style, defense puts people in awe. As if Canelo’s upper body movement is just guessing. Canelo haters are among the dumbest in the sport. Spence and Charlos look robotic compared to Canelo
His competition has gotten worse, I am not fooled by him facing bigger 'Less talented fighters'.

Who is he fighting? Guys like Callum Smith are just big guys, they are not really talented fighters technically.

There are no fighters active in the sport today, who are operating on the level of Mayweather, Roy Jones Junior or Bernard Hopkins 'There are good fighters active, but the abilities that are being shown are just a level below the past great fighters'.

Alvarez is just at that level below.

Note: There is no way in the 90's, would Alvarez just be able to wade into the middle weight divisions 'He can do that now, because the competition is poor'.

I think it's bull****. He has carefully handpicked his opponents by intentionally fighting guys who can punch hard, which doesn't phase him the way guys who can move do, like Lara and Floyd. GGG, Kovalev, Smith, and even Jacobs, are slow and plodding compared to Floyd and Lara. These guys are tailor made to make Canelo look fast and slick. I don't believe the smoke and mirrors.

For you Canelo fans, I will admit this - Billy Hoe, who I can't stand, is better at fighting off the back foot and moves around the ring better than other recent Canelo opponents. Not as good as Floyd and Lara, but better than all those other guys.

So this will be a good test to see if he's improved. Can't just win though, has to be a dominating performance. Gotta show that he's really learned how to cut off the ring.

If Canelo dominates this fight I will admit that he's improved. A close decision won't work, BJS isn't as good a fighter as Lara, so he's gotta dominate.
We wont see it until he fights a mover again but from what I see, he has improved his ability to cut off the ring and is much more comfortable pressing on the frontfoot than he was early in his career. His body punches are also sharper which slows down guys with quick feet.

Regarding saunders, he is still way too flawed.
Someone who regularly fades against opponents who arent even good at wearing you down has no shot against canelo at all.
As soon as he cant move around the ring anymore and is forced to become more stationary, he gets beat the **** up.

Lol. Kovalev, Jacobs, GGG were all bigger guys than Canelo. It’s typical of Canelo fans to just specify one type of opponent. To be on the P4P requires universal skill above average elite fighters. Kovalev and GGG were P4P.

And regarding the 90’s. He probably would’ve surpassed Tyson or RJJ because there was no random and advanced drug testing back then. Meaning Canelo would’ve been allowed the steroids from Evan Fields, RJJ, Toney.

Alvarez would of been blasted out by many middleweights in the 90's 'I am not fooled by him wading into the division these days, from Middleweight to Light Heavyweight the landscape has weakened'.

Alvarez is a not a all-time great middle weight, deep down you know this.

Canelo Alvarez is a great fighter, but for me? He is not proving his greatness by colliding with other greatness etc

People who think Charlo and Andrade beat Canelo are straight up dumb.

I understand totally there is a racial dynamic in play, but seriously guys?

Hate on Canelo all you want, he is levels above those guys and has the best resume of any current fighter.

I'm not even a Canelo fan, but it is what it is.

Canelo wasn't even a top 10 P4P fighter when he fought Mayweather. His best win was the very close Austin Trout fight.

Golovkin would have decapitated that version of Canelo.

It's not that those guys are bad fighters, they're great pressure fighters. Problem is pressure fighters were never cannel's weakness, they were his strength. Those are easy fights for him. what he can't handle is guys who can fight off the back foot. GGG and Kovalev are absolute **** at fighting off the back foot. Jacobs is so so, but nowhere near a Lara or Floyd. Andrade and Charlo can fight off the back foot much better than Jacobs.
