This was more about taking things away, not taking it all against elite fighters.
He took away the body work which was seen as a huge key. It’s probably not possible to take GGG’s jab away, but Canelo definitely took a lot of things away from GGG to the point where his power punching was largely not an issue and in turn thrived off his own power and body punching.
It’s not sucking hard to admit someones skill. GGG got walked down by a smaller man, his body punching taken away, and out power punched. Let’s not act like as impressive as GGG was with his jab, Canelo wasn’t equally impressive with what he was able to do. They were both incredible fights, whether you agree with the outcomes or not.
You can still be a hater and respect someones ability.Last edited by NearHypnos; 01-29-2021, 11:26 AM.Comment

I don't hate on Canelo, I said in my original comment that he was a great fighter. Though the only round out of 24!!! he 'walked GGG down' was in fight 2, round 5, and Canelo lost that round pretty clearly. This was more about taking things away, not taking it all against elite fighters.

Canelo also got outlanded by 50+ and 30+ punches in each fight. The average punch landed by Canelo was about as hard as the average punch landed by GGG. Hardly a dominant performance by any stretch for Canelo.
The man who did take away GGG's jab - Derevychenko - actually had a legit claim to beating him. Canelo fought well in both fights but to act like he got any more than 4 rounds in either, is a stretch and pretty sad.
It's fair to credit and praise fighters, but we should keep the praise/criticism within reasonable bounds.Comment

I'm not a fan of Charlo at all, typical wrong mor0n. Where have I said or implied I was a fan of Charlo? I haven't. Charo been fighting low levels willingly. Andrade and Saunders, can't say the same for them. They're trying to get big fights.
Let me ask you this, how come bums like Fielding and middling UK fighters get all the big fights but Saunders can't?Comment

what are you saying... ?
are you saying that you are also unaware that ATG is based solely upon resume?
there is a word for that LMAO
a fighter has got to have those names if he wants to be regarded as a ATG dude, you should know that
that is the very basics of boxing
any other discussion is P4P... which is yea, mostly opinion and bullshlt
I'm sure you know that, right ?Comment

straight from the horses mouth
* his defence is superb...
* he takes away your strengths...
* his opponents become inhibited, because of those sharp punishing counters
the casuals will still b,b,b,b,but.... and not be able to figure out why Golovkin could not get his game going, and could not throw those trademark body-shots
I bet that will be the most accurate post in this threadComment

“Like I said before, Saunders, Charlo, and Andrade are better fighters. Simple”. You
Any more implication needed?
These guys aren’t trying to get the big fights. They avoid each other and try and stay busy fighting cans so they don’t risk taking a L therefore loosing out on a Canelo payday. You dummy

Agreed. He's hard to hit, has a solid beard even when you do land on him, and he has an efficient offensive game that see's him land lots of eye catching power shots. Judges seem to favor him too. I think some styles would do better than other against him, but it's difficult for me to envision him losing when you consider all of those factors.Comment
