  • Comments Thread For: Jake Paul To Fight UFC Veteran, Former Bellator Champ Ben Askren On April 17

Jake Paul's third pro boxing match seemingly will be more difficult than his first two bouts. Triller co-founder Ryan Kavanaugh told ESPN.com on Tuesday morning that Paul will face former UFC fighter Ben Askren in an eight-round cruiserweight fight April 17. The polarizing Paul announced last week that he would return to the ring April 17, but the popular YouTuber's opponent hadn't been revealed until Tuesday.

Good name for Jake Paul. A real fighter who was an undefeated world champ for years. All 3 of Askren's fights in the UFC saw him take a lot of damage to the head, and the last 2 fights had him out cold.

Askren is all wrestling and had a good chin, but I think this will be a close fight.

What a joke. He picked a washed up retiree whose been brutally knocked out and choked unconscious in his last 2 fights whose known as perhaps the worst striker in mma. On top of that the guy has had a hip replacement. I hope someone catches paul on the street

This is not a good name for paulm this is a circus show. Tell him to fight a pro boxer. Even a .500 journeyman would give this punk the business. Making a mockery out of boxing. We can all thank floyd for the start of these freakshows

The hate Jake/Logan Paul gets for these is misplaced.

Boxing fans shouldn’t be angry at them, they’re just putting on an event. The fact that they can attract 5x the audience of the likes of Spence/Crawford/Davis should make boxing fans angry at how poorly the sport has been ran which has led to this happening. Boxing hasn’t adapted to the changing landscape of media consumption. Boxing isn’t just competing with other cable channels anymore, it’s competing with dozens of ******ing services, social media networks, games, etc. If boxing isn’t going to deliver the mega fights on any consistent basis then you can’t piss and moan about some reality TV stars doing it instead. These are the guys putting boxing in the spotlight, as well as the likes of Mike Tyson and Roy Jones. Don’t be angry at them be angry with the mismanagement by those who‘ve let the sport get to this state. The governing bodies, the promoters, the big fighters who refuse to fight each other, the fighters who believe they’re PPV stars when they’ve won a world title.

We talk more about the Paul brothers or gimmick exhibitions than we do actual fights. Where's Top Rank? Where are the Premier Black Champions at?

                  Boxing is a fookin joke.

Ben Askren wasn't, isn't, and will never be a boxer. Who's next - C.M. Punk?
