  • Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez: Canelo Fight Would Be a Classic, He Knows I'm Not Kovalev or Smith

If 29-year-old Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (41-0, 27 KOs), arguably already one of the top 25 Mexican fighters of all-time, has his way as he enters his prime years, he will eventually have a mega-showdown with fellow countryman Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (54-2-32, 36 KOs) before making their way to the Hall of Fame.

No, Even Smith had ONE decent win on his resume.

Ramirez isn’t anything special but he’s right. Even he is better than the broken down shell of Kovalev and simple smith on 4 weeks rest coke off a Ryder beat down. With that being said, nobody cares to see Ramirez face canelo.

I just don't get it with this "interim" champion bs when there is champion who is active, fighting his mandatories etc. Just more "sanctioning body" bs!

No you're not Kovalev or Smith, you're way worse than Kovalev, and slightly worse than Smith you'd probably only beat Smith because how the business works in the US.

Somehow though I bet Canelo takes this joke matchup before fighting top guys at 175 though. Canelo vs Chavez Jr all over again, just slightly more competitive but still Canelo win and boring fight.

Yup. It seems every body has interim belts at every weight class lately. There were just FOUR champs at 168 with the WBA.

I stopped reading the article once it stated arguably one of the top 25 mexican fighters of all time. Anyways canelo beats him easily

He's right. He ain't Kovalev or Smith. He's less than those guys. Has never been impressive even with the very limited competition he's fought in 40+ fights.

Kovalev a better fighter than Ramirez.
