Comments Thread For: Warren: A Joyce-Usyk Fight Puts Winner In Tremendous Position

The only direction is forward for Joe Joyce. On the heels of a career-best 10th round knockout of Daniel Dubois last November, the 35-year old Joyce (12-0, 11KOs) is now being groomed for the title stage in 2021. An aggressive schedule is already being planned by promoter Frank Warren, beginning with a potential clash with unbeaten former World cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk (18-0, 13KOs).

What a load of bollocks. If Joshua wont defend the belt it should just be vacated.

Why TF would Usyk fight Joyce for an "interim" title if he's already mando for the title?

This fight only makes sense if the full WBO title is on the line

So interim champion would be with the stipulation that Joshua when vacates he is champion (after the first Fury AJ fight the winner won't have time to defend the WBO) .. basically Joyce vs Usyk is for the WBO championship just delayed .. with a sprinkling of compensation can't see why not he has to fight Joyce anyway. Could give Usyk a UK ppv vs Joyce with the percentage in his favour and then he's full champion (elevated) after Fury vs AJ.

These guys fought already. Wbss. Amateurs with no headgear.. Usyk outworked him after the first. I don't see any improvement in Joyce so...

Both very good fighters, usyk more technical, fast and skilled overall, joyce more resilient and powerful.

A new match could tell a different story then the previous with more rounds and joyce being more confident and a real hw.

Both easily win vs the likes of whyte.

Yes, no real "plus side" for Usyk really is there?! Just a way for Warren to make some money and/or contribute to a "step aside" arrangement for Usyk not to enforce the mandatory position he already holds.
