Comments Thread For: Plant: At Some Point, Me And Canelo Are Gonna Get In There And Do Our Thing

As many in the industry officially welcome Saul Canelo' Alvarez to the super middleweight division, Caleb Plant is already thinking of ways to put together a going away party. Mexico's Alvarez-who has won major titles in four weight divisions-has firmly planted his fighting flag at 168 pounds, which the pound-for-pound king insists is his optimal weight. It is also where he has designs on becoming the undisputed champion.

“ Plant instead will be moved in a different direction, as he next defends his version of the crown versus former titlist Caleb Plant on Jan. 30 live on Fox.”.
Wow, Plant vs Plant? I don’t know about you guys, but that’s a 50/50 fight if I’ve ever seen one.

Plant does seem to love to talk about fighting Canelo considering he's turned 2 fights down so far. If I didnt know any better I'd begin to wonder if he is just clout chasing.

Talks about fighting Canelo,Turns down Canelo, fights Traux. Hmmmm?

Hopefully they don’t cost Plant a massive pay day like they did Tank Davis, Charlo, Wilder, Ortiz and Kownacki. The mentality of “The offer would only get bigger, we are betting on ourselves, they still have to see us” etc has cost those mentioned. Hopefully it doesn’t cost Plant or any more PBC boxers.

That’s a PPV fight right there and one that will sell well. Plant proved he can do numbers when promoted right as we saw on FS1. White America will salivate over a fight between two white guys at the top level in the USA. You have the Mexican angle with Mexican American fans who will spend a buck for Canelo as long as they actually know he’s fighting rather than tucked away on an app. Big money fight especially with Plant’s black American style swagger and fan base. This fight literally hits every major demographic for the USA. Promote it right and it’s a gold mine and the average American sports fan will be taking about it...

These "at some point. . . " comments don't inspire confidence that Plant wants a canelo fight anytime soon.

Why isn't he saying things along the line of, " once I get Truax out if the way, I'm teady, available and WANT Canelo next . . ."; "that'll be the fight I'll be telling my management to make . . . ", Etc.

Plant’s been a clown since the days of the DeGale vs Truax presser. DeGale musta been like, “who da fook is this clown?! Al wants me to fight this kid?!”

Plant doesn't seem in a rush and I think that's smart. Concentrating on his development and his own career and not just desperately trying to cash out.

Right... as if PBC Champions have to worry about pays when they’re given Mike Lee’s and Feigenbutz...one could make bank and pretend they’re fighting the best

Canelo specifically mentioned unifications for 2021 and Plant just coasts casually with irrelevant goals on the wait game
