Frank Craig:

The Harlem Coffee Cooler was a pretty good middleweight in the late 19th century and early 20th. His nickname sounds goofy but it was a parody of another popular boxer's name during his era. Something to effect of Tea Warmer, Craig's name was specifically thought up to poke fun at this other guy, who, in the end was a considerably lesser boxer anyway.
Craig was one of the better colored MW champions and BBBoC world MW champions.
In his retirement he wrote an article titled A Life Story and a Candid Opinion. I want to share an excerpt with y'all because to me it sounds so much like Deontay I laughed a little. Before I do I need to preamble a little more; I don't mean for this to be taken as disrespectful to Wilder, who is still my favorite mother ****er anyway, or Craig, who really was a great MW in his prime. My only point is it's funny how similar the 1894 MW champion is to the 2015-20 HW champion.
Frank Craig - " Say you are a hard working married man, and you go home tired and hungry to find your supper isn't ready and you know it could have been ready, and there's no excuse. I guess for a time you're going to feel pretty bitter against your wife. But your bitterness if toffee compared with the bitterness, of the blacks against the whites--at least, in America. So the colored boxer went into the ring, and goes into the ring today, for "victory or death". The white man is not so keen. The Englishman, indeed, has little to no feeling against us. This is one reason why the black man wins: He has tremendous goad behind him."
Obviously there's huge differences in their word choices and such, but, Craigs from the 19th century. For a ye olden, he's very Wilder. Loosely connected analogous parable? Haphazardly thrown in points with no context and loose connection to his arc? And as far as the brash racial comments, Craig said this **** to late 19th and early 20th century America. Those are massive balls he had. Wilder's not been that brash yet I don't think.
I probably would have been a fan'uh Craig's too.
Eons apart, but, Eubank vs Craig is an entertaining match up for sure.
Edit- I thought I was in history section when i posted this.
