Comments Thread For: Hearn: Usyk Should Fight Joyce For WBO-Interim, It Could Become Full Title

Eddie Hearn, promoter for IBF, WBO, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, has floated a different path for Oleksandr Usyk to pursue. Usyk, who currently hold the WBO's mandatory position, has yet to allow Joshua to move forward with a potential full division unification against WBC champion Tyson fury.

Hearn speaks with a forked tongue. Usyk up next, more than likely. Why would Eddie sabatoge a money maker vs the smallest mandatory /threat, or get him knocked off, when AJ can get 20 mil for the job.

Did you not watch Usyk embarrass Gassiev in Russia a couple of years back? Or how about him retiring Bellew in England right after Bellew knocked Hayemaker out? Doesn't Usyk almost exclusively fight on the road? Has Usyk ever ducked anyone?

Usyk will do fine against Joyce...

Usyk has balls .Having already beaten Joyce in the unpaid ranks Usyk hasn't looked top drawer with the big lads, unconvincing against Chad Witherspoon (at one weeks notice) and couldn't put a knackered , hands down and trudging forward Chisora .Great at cruiser but still to make a mark at heavy ....but I'm sure his balls are there.

Usyk isn’t going to fight Joyce and risk his title shot ,he will find a stay busy easier fight .

Hearn is such a ****ing terrible promoter.

"Hey boss, I'm mandatory for the world heavyweight championship!"
"You should fight for this secondary, interim belt that COULD become the one you're already in line for..."

I still see you haven’t learned to comprehend sensibility because that’s not hurting Usyk at all with the that option.

He said if they sign to fight ,A.J would vacate the belt after the undisputed and then that fight could be for the WBO belt which would make sense if Usyk is confident he would win and doesn’t want to wait for the 2 fights that Fury and A.J are going to have which does make sense if you have sense .Ha

Agree. Eddie is basically saying as soon as AJ vs Tyson 1 finishes, and the winner is declared undisputed, the belts will THEN fragment and Usyk or Joyce will become WBO champ. A quicker, more winnable path for Usyk, as there is no way Fury vs AJ doesn't happen next.

Hearn has a vested interest here lol. Usyk should attempt to fight AJ because it's his biggest money fight. At the very least he should hold out for the most step aside money. If all else fails, then fight Joyce.
