Does KOVALEV get credit for the BHOP win?

It was a good win at the time. Kovalev would have been the favourite but Hopkins was as crafty as ever and kept finding ways to win fights he probably had no right to at his age, so it wasn't a guarantee. That said, Kovalev's gameplan was on point and completely shut Hopkins out of the fight. There weren't that many better fights realistically out there for him at the time, save the Stevenson fight that never materialised.Comment

Hopkins was the IBF and WBA champ going into the fight. It wasn’t a cherry pick, it was a unification. It was a good win at the time. I need to go back and watch that again. I felt similar but my heart was with Ward.Comment

Yes he gets credit for the win.He failed no tests before he fought Hopkins and the failed test does not go backward in time. By your wrong logic Canelo should get no credit for any win he had before he failed that drug test. Many claim that Kovalev “carried” Bhop.
I think GBP protected Hopkins they best they could to protect the OG with strict fees for any type of adverse finding even the fight was cancelled? That’s why Kovalev didn’t have his usual pop against a 50 year old gangsta Gramps?!Comment
