i agree with your post tho

i agree. Pride is the real deal. UFC cant compete with PRIDE when it comes to skill.

I cant see the UFC taking over boxing. If anything it will be just as popular. UFC 61 was a disaster. The storylines in UFC are getting really old.

UFC is an ugly sport to watch?

Probably because you don't understand what's going on and you don't comprehend the subtle intricate moves each fighter makes to get in better position. It's actually a pretty cool thing to watch.

i couldn't of said it better, this is exactly why greco roman wrestling is not a professional sport. Who wants to watch two grown men roll around with their nuts in each others faces?

ugly because of all the illegal moves and disgusting swelling and cuts. again, i think its entertaining, but it can be at times horrid to watch. boxing as well, but much more often in the UFC

The UFC seems to be a less dynamic MMA foundation than PRIDE which has so many explosive talents, the backing of people like Bas Rutten, who is perhaps the most respected guy in the sport, and PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emilianenko, who is considered to be the most dangerous all round MMA fighter in the world.

If PRIDE can translate from Japan and Europe to the American market, it will be huge. Secondsout.com just had a feature in which they said that Tyson was going to fight exhibitions in association with PRIDE. Talk about a good first step.

What the UFC has to compete against with boxing is boxing's long tradition that it will never match.

Also, as much as I try to like the UFC fights, I can't get excited about two men hugging each other on the ground for five minutes at a time and squeezing up against a wire cage. there's just no spectacle in that. However, in boxing, clinching is rarely accepted or allowed to continue by a referee, meaning that the likelihood of something big will happen remains prevalent as long as it lasts.

I am getting more accustomed to MMA, but you have to watch PRIDE, because it looks as if the UFC is a dying branch on the tree.

I respect Pride. This respect was birthed when I saw Gomi beat the **** out of J. Pulver with a nice right uppercut I believe it was. It impressed me that a guy from Japan could take out someone who was a pro boxer at one time and dominated the UFC via striking ability(Pulver), at his own game, with a well placed blow. I haven't even seen Fedor or any of the other popular fighters fight on Pride. But I respect the fact that Liddell tried to handle up on Pride and got punked back to the UFC, then Pulver who dominated UFC tried Pride and got punked as well. It's obvious that the tougher competition lies within Pride, and they don't use a childish ****ing cage, either. But I will tell you this, when Pride's on TV and Boxing isn't, I don't watch anything at all. I only watched that one Pride fight with Gomi because Boxing was coming on in like 15 minutes afterwards.

And you have a valid point in the tradition aspect of Boxing. That's one of the things that makes Boxing so attractive in my eyes, the long tradition and great history of so many great fights and all the stories that lie within.

I agree with this post only because I recently went to a UFC event this past weekend. I myself am not much a UFC fan. I'd occasionally see it on tv and watch it for abit and then turn it off. It's terribly boring when they are on the ground humping each other. I already knew that on TV though watching it LIVE and when that happens, it's even more boring. The best part is when they stand and trade punches. Everyone in the audience went wild and those were without a doubt the best moments. The only moments on the ground are choking someone out which to me is lame as ****. I hear people screaming, choke, choke, choke. I'm thinking, wtf? What's so entertaining seeing a guy just fall asleep with the other guy already lying ontop of him? Then the best moments of the night were when the guys got knocked out from trading punches. Everyone went wild and those were without a doubt the best fights. I'll always be with boxing because UFC doesn't float my boat at all. It's just a time filler for me if nothing is on and I'm terribly bored.
