When Charlo and Crawford fight 1 quality opponent, then maybe you can question Canelo's quality of opposition. As it is, Charlo didn't want any part of Jacobs, turned down Canelo twice, went life and death with an unknown last minute replacement and hasn't unified anything.

Crawford, well his entire career has been a joke.

        Whole lotta whataboutisms in here.

The answer to your question is Erislandy Lara, six and a half years ago, in a fight I thought he lost.

What rds did you give Lara? And why? I would like your honest assessment Because I've noticed most when rewatching fights end up changing their minds about outcomes,at least how you seen it on 1st watch. (Sound off)

Cotto had just destroyed Daniel Geale and Sergio Martinez in succession and looked excellent both times. He was definitely having a bit of a second wind in his career at that point.

I think even if you nitpick the prior performances of each of Canelo's opponents, it doesn't really decrease the value of those wins too much and you can't really rag on Canelo too hard for it - it was only really Smith who was coming off a performance that was downright poor. I don't think that's where the controversy lies with Canelo, it's more about judging and varying circumstances around some of the fights like the drug scandal, the short turnaround for the Kovalev fight, the wack scores in both Golovkin fights etc. rather than the matchmaking itself.

I gotta score it again homie. I know I scored it 7-5 (could have been 8-4 but I'm about 90% I had it 7-5) but it was before I kept scorecards on my phone.

That said, While I agree with you that a lot of times you can go back and watch a fight another time and score it differently, that's not a luxury the judges have.

28 mins in & 10 seconds, what do you say,was it a knockdown that should've been awarded to Canelo but was wrongfully waived off as a slip?(I say it was a kd,Canelo had been hitting Lara with left hooks to the right eye & his eye looked like the plague at that point, then Canelo tags him with a left to the same eye,& Lara retreats like he does best as a reflex from getting hit,he falls from the same punch recoil motion,so thats a textbook flash knockdown imo,he almost slipped to the floor in the 1st round iirc but that WAS a slip this was him losing his legs for a millisecond imho)

Just watched it now, Looks like he pulled back to me, not knowing where he was and slipped. The non neutral corners are always wet as **** too. I hate agreeing with Robert Byrd (Terrible ref) but I think he was right here.

TBH I don't even think Canelo connected with the body shot here.

I had it 115-113 Lara when I first watched it but honestly it could have gone either way. I don't have a round-by-round score handy right now but Lara could have won it more convincingly if he had stood his ground more. I'm sure Canelo's body shots had a lot to do with that though. Lara's southpaw straight lefts were more eye-catching yet too far and few between in my opinion.

I thought Lara edged it but I could see it the other way and it wasn't a robbery.

                      Easy

Trout was coming of good showing he was after all undefeated.

Lara was coming off the impressive trout win.

Cotto was on a roll having just stopped Geal.

Jacobs came off a fun and competetive clear win over Derv was wasn’t washed up yet like the guy charlo faced.

Ggg came if an also competitive but clear win over Jacobs.

Nice try but that was too easy now go back and try and find something else to critique about canelo jusr remrmber he still the p4p king.
