DAZN Canelo Feb fight a gimick.

I know a lot of the haters want to pretend this is a serious fight and that it's going to be his only fight of the year, but as I'm considering what to do with my DAZN subscription, I was thinking... what makes the most sense about this fight happening is that DAZN is just trying to retain subscribers for February since they don't have any worthy fights that month.

Last year I'm sure must have ****** for DAZN since they had to force all their fights in December so I bet they are trying to strategize around having a major fight or at least a major figure fight for each month.

Are you all month to month or just buy the year? If your m2m are you gonna stay subscribe for February?

    I'm still not even sure.

$99 for the full year, why even try thinking about it?
you've had AJ, GGG, Canelo and Ryan Garcia already. You're going to get AJ vs Fury/Usyk this year. You'll prob get another Canelo fight and another Ryan Garcia fight. Haney, Andrade, BJS, Vergil Ortiz.
dillian whyte vs povetkin, parker vs fa, estrada vs chocolatito not too far off.
usyk will fight again, possibly joe joyce, most likely on dazn.

there are a LOT of fights..and not only that, but matchroom events also have youtube channels like IFL TV around, so you get a lot of good content around the fights too. I don't think any other promotion has that anymore, eg esnews and fino boxing don't have the level of content ifl or behind the gloves do...partly because it's harder to get around in the US (being a bigger country obv). Eddie tends to take his trusted circle with him to the US.
i just think the overall boxing experience from a fan perspective is so much better when there's a matchroom card compared to a goldenboy or pbc or top rank card. honestly even a frank warren card in the uk has better content around it than any american promotional outfit. you see direct lengthy interviews within minutes of the event uploaded onto youtube.

The February fight looks like it might end up on FOX not DAZN.

Pretend this is a serious fight? Dude, most are correctly calling it exactly what it is…. A mandatory fight against someone he should completely dominate.

Good point. DAZN just had rubbed me the wrong way when they started getting to involved with trying to manipulate the opponent selection for Canelo so I was choosing not to support them fully. And only pay for the fights I really want to see. Also if any of those fighters are fighting a garbage opponent then I honestly might not even bother.

Yeah saw that too. Well I guess we will see. I like that Canelo has more options to market himself now. He should try to fight in all stables and networks to get a bigger foot print.

All I'm saying is that there were plenty of people freaking out that he wasn't fighting a higher profile fighter and just ignoring his mandatory.

For all we know maybe Canelo can ingore his mandatory but since they are friends he wants to go through with it to help his friend financially and just give him the shot he was previously promised.

He can't ignore this. It was stated before the Smith fight that the winner would have to fight Yilidrim next.

I think because we only pay £2 a month over here in the UK most of us couldn’t care less. Even if I don’t get anything for the next 6 months am still happy (Definitely want to get more fights), but for £4 so far I have seen fights that would have cost maybe £60 on PPV over here in that time and maybe a lot more (As you guys get mugged off on a regular basis over there on PPV).

Once the prices goes up (Which am expecting) then the need for them to get more meaningful fights would go up from this side of the pond.

lou dibella said that all the broadcasters interfere with the opponent selection, it just goes on behind the scenes and is a headache to deal with.
