  • Comments Thread For: Promoter: Fortuna Ready To Fight Haney For TItle, Pretty Sure Ryan Garcia Has Other Plans

Javier Fortuna doesn't intend to allow any more time than necessary to pass by in waiting out his overdue title shot. The former secondary 130-pound titlist is one of two mandatory challengers in waiting for WBC lightweight titlist Devin Haney. Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18KOs) raced to the head of the line, following a 7th round knockout of England's Luke Campbell in a star-making performance on Jan. 2nd in Dallas, Texas.

This would be a solid opponent for Haney if the Garcia fight doesn't go through

Fortuna would definitely be a serious test for Haney. Interesting to see which direction Haney will go.

Time for Haney to step up and fight Fortuna. This is a great test for him and I honestly think brings out the best out of Haney. Fortuna is a awkward fighter and comes to fight, never been stopped and it would be a good win if Haney does that.

I heard on a podcast though that Haney’s dad said their next fight is in April???? Wtf man why does it take Devin 4 months to get ready for a fight? He should be ready after that Gamboa tune up. I don’t see that urgency of trying to challenge themselves.

Haney will be pissed if Ryan skips out on the fight! I just can't see Ryan doing such a thing without assurances from Floyd and Tank!

Can't wait to see how WBC will maneuver out of this without shaming Ryan for not wanting to fight Haney?

You would think Ryan would lose his mandatory position.
