Comments Thread For: Teofimo Lopez: My Plan Is Three Fights In 2021, I Want To Repeat As Fighter Of The Year

As evidenced during year-end award season, Teofimo Lopez Jr. made better use of a pandemic-stricken 2020 than just about any other fighter in the sport. That said, he'll gladly take a return to normalcy over a repeat campaign in the new year. Brooklyn's Lopez (16-0, 12KOs) is currently mapping out his 2021 campaign, expecting to be far more active than was the case one year prior. His one fight in 2020 was a career-defining moment-to date-as he outpointed Ukraine's Vasiliy Lomachenko to unify most of the relevant hardware at lightweight along with establishing championship lineage.

Edit: 'Cant stop' by the Red-Hot-Chili-Peppers, air-guitar by Teofimo Lopez.

Right now, Juan Francisco Estrada-Roman Gonzalez have a head-start as 2021 Fighter Of The Year in their schedule Superfly unification, as the winner is set to fight top 5 ( at 115 ), Sirsacet Rungvisai as mandatory. Teo, is going to need to face Haney, clean-up WBC lightweight championship controversy.

Then clean-up the WBA 'Regular' situation with the winner of Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia, in order to advance the TAKEOVER.

        This.

Most of all, rejecting the most marketable and easy to make fight with Loma is a ****** move. Who will he fight 3 times a year? Bum of the month club members?

Gonna hafta fight at least two notable names if that's what the dude is looking for. There's enough names at LW and JWW if he decides to move up to make that happen.

You'll need to beat Davis and Garcia to retain that title. If you want to fight 3 times, Haney, Davis, Garcia.

Yeah. I'd really like to see Lopez vs Zepeda if he goes to 140.
