    Crazy boxing stories...

One of mine is in 1993 Tommy Morrison was set to defend his WBO HW title against Mike Williams- a sparring partner of Mike Tyson. Williams however completely freaked out and refused to leave the dressing room which left Bob Arum desperately searching for an opponent at the 11th hour. Bob literally began searching around the Kansas based arena for a replacement and found club fighter/ journeyman heavyweight Tim Tomashek sitting in the crowd eating a hot dog. Arum managed to broker a last minute deal with Tomashek and he stepped in to face Morrison on the latest of late notice. Predictably Morrison won inside 4.

I wouldn't say "only in boxing"

I'm a huge Chicago Blackhawks fan. In the 2009 playoffs Khabibulan (starting goalie) and Huet (backup) got injured in the same period. During the playoffs they'll usually have a bigger roster of younger guys incase of injury. Anyways, Corey Crawford (who was 24 at the time and only played a handful of NHL games) was in the press box with a hotdog and a beer when they told him to suit up
