Ioka’s tattoo causes issues with JBC

Wow they take everything so serious over there. Miss weight, get your license suspended indefinitely and forced to move up to decided or agreed upon weight... Tattoo not hidden sufficiently? Harsh warning or possible suspension of boxing license. I mean it sounds like he put a good effort in to masking it using make up but as a champion working up a sweat I can't imagine that lasted long...
Ioka is a muthafuckin' boss and I'm sure he will shrug this off or get by with a small warning even though they say they give no one any special treatment...
Western commissions start taking notes. You look like clowns letting everyone get away with anything.Last edited by YoungManRumble; 01-06-2021, 07:12 AM. -
This reminded me of the classic SNL skit of the Japanese Game Show with Chris Farley & Mike Myers. Incidentally, Daigo Higa was fighting on the undercard of Ioka vs. Tanaka and he was banned by the JBC for like two years, simply for missing weight

Imagine Gervtona Davis was a Japanese fighter lol...
I was referencing Higa in my post too I might as well say since I wasn't being specific.Comment

Kazuto Ioka gives no fooks, he has already made his U.S debut and the elite 'Superfly-weights' are fighting overseas. So the JBC can do what they want. Besides, Ioka has already retired once, and has been quoted recently reiterating the same thing after two or three fights.Wow they take everything so serious over there. I'm sure his decision to get sleeved, was well thought-out.Comment

When I captured this scene, I did not know why Higa and his team where being overdramatic.

and LOL at Gervonta Davis being Japanese. This might look a bit racist in context to the discussion, but oh well.

Several years ago a Japanese Olympic Gold medalist in Judo was black balled for fighting in the MMA.

They don't **** around in Japan. For the longest time they only recognized 2 of the 4 orgs. What's that? You won the WBO Championship? Doesn't count, **** off.
Unfortunately tattoos are still associated with the Yakuza over there. Shame because Japanese tattoos are unique and very well done.Comment

Back in the late 80’s, guys with tattoos were prevented from being at public swimming pools, onsen, Disneyland, many guys with tats were considered to be strongly connected to the yakuza.Kazuto Ioka gives no fooks, he has already made his U.S debut and the elite 'Superfly-weights' are fighting overseas. Now, many artists, musicians and brave actors get them.Comment
