    Sharmba Mitchell Hints At Retirement

Former two-time junior welterweight champion, Sharmba Mitchell, tells The Washington Post that he is seriously considering retirement.

This past weekend, undefeated Paul Williams (31-0, 23KOs) battered Mitchell (57-6, 30KOs) on route to a stoppage in the fourth round. Mitchell tasted the canvas four times in the fight. It was the third time Mitchell was stopped in his last five fights. [details]

He's had 63 career fights, I believe only James Toney 78 fights is more then Mitchell's 63 from the current boxers. Mitchell is a 2 time champion, so he had pretty good career.

After taking a pretty bad beating last night, I think it's a good call.

Yeah he was a pretty good fighter, and he had guts. He fought Floyd, Kosta, and now Williams. He could try for 60 wins, but if so I wouldn't get in there with top competition.

definitely he should hang his gloves now. He had a distinctively good run on his prime.

Marco Antonio Barrera is 62-4 with one no contest.

And if you wanted to include non-elite, non-typically televised boxers, you could find many with plenty of fights, especially journeymen and tomato cans.

Emanuel Augustus is 32-27-6, and he's one of the few journeymen who sees a good amount of broadcast time, mainly because he has a talent level that never got to see its full potential.

But then you get into tomato cans like Marcus Rhode (and I believe Benny Henderson Jr had a great interview with him about writing off guys as tomato cans), who has been knocked out by Tommy Morrison, Brian Nielsen, Jeremy Williams, Lance Whitaker, Vitali Klitschko, Lamon Brewster, Shannon Briggs, Fabio Moli, Andrew Golota, Butterbean, Lou Savarese (twice), Rob Calloway, Calvin Brock, Kevin McBride, Jameel McCline and the comebacking-version of Rid**** Bowe.

Rhode is 31-30-2 with two no contests.

And let's not even get into Reggie Strickland.

I don't know he might not wanna end his career on a one-sided beating.

He should have put some of that smarts into fighting Kostya Tszyu, because each time he was in there with him, he looked like he didn't know what he was doing.
