Comments Thread For: Ryan Garcia on Knockdown: I Was a Little Dizzy, But I Wasn't Worried

Rising lightweight star Ryan Garcia (21-0, 18 KOs) made a big statement at 135-pounds on Saturday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Garcia got off the floor to score a knockout of 2012 Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell to capture the interim-WBC lightweight championship with a seventh round body shot.

Stiff and upright with his chin in the air, it was only a matter of time until somebody clipped him hard. I like Ryan but he's lucky it was against a B level guy with little pop. If that was Teo or Tank he'd still be on the canvas.

Im disappointed at the result, but it was entertaining. I have a hard time seeing Ryan beat Teofimo, but things change in boxing pretty quickly.

Luke just cant get over the hump.

Ryan seems like a good guy...I only just heard about his social media side, which I dont really care about, because I am a grown man. Apparently, he was rated as the 12th most marketable athlete in the world, forgot source, so that would be good for the sport.

I dont think they should allow fans.

Agreed! No head movement will spell disaster!

          I will say this again.
Ryan Garcia is tall and long and has fast hands with power.
But his chin is always up there and just moves straight backward when attacked.
If he doesnt improve that, he will get clipped again and probably wont stay up against elite power.

That same shot from Davis and Lopez knocks him out cold. Haney would've finished him off had he gotten back up like he did 🥊

KingRy passed the chin check! I think he's safe @ 135, but @ 5'10" tall, how long can he stay @ 135? If that was any Top 10 JWW, what then?

Arms extended, look away has always been bad form. Another danger is this kid getting caught inna trade too. That’s when it’ll be a one-hitter quitter. Really needs to learn to tuck in his chin.

You hope after this eddy will dedicate some serious training to defensive skills.
He looked very flat footed all fight, great knock out though and fought well, as did Campbell.
