It's easy to criticise boxers when you are just spectating. Campbell may not be an all-time great like Ali but at least he's earned a lot of money doing something he is passionate about, not to mention being an Olympic gold medalist. He has nothing to be ashamed of.

We come 4th in olympics sprints against countries with zero lottery funding and its “He was unlucky there” etc... I think we empathise with losers a lot. Like taking part is just the it... Like Michael Johnson said about how athletes (They need to grow a pair and have a winning do or die mentality) not the “He did well” crap.
You're getting a lot of things confused. AJ handled himself like a man then beat Ruiz like a punching bag next time out...while Ruiz, the winner, the arrogant one, went partying and shouting about God and all that latin christian nonsense.

But I do agree with the overall sentiment, losers are often viewed like heroes in UK boxing, no idea why that is. Hatton and is more loved than Calzaghe, Eubank, Naz and Benn should be absolute icons but we have more people who know Frank Bruno.

Sometimes you can tell a winner, by how they lose. It is good to acknowledge a loss 'But don't embrace it too much'.

Wilder for example? Has completely refused to accept that Tyson Fury has beaten him 'In part he has reacted this way, because his perception of himself 'Is that he is a Winner'.

The moment I observed David Haye being all agreeable and accepting of Tony Bellew 'During the build up to their rematch? I knew something had changed inside of Haye'.
