Why do Canelo and Golovkin hate each other?

Both Canelo and GGG are quiet, respectful guys and class acts. They are friendly to almost every opponent, even to a POS like Kovalev.

Yet for some reason they have a hatred towards each other that is very personal. Just look at their weigh in and interviews even now.

    Why is this?

You would think that after sharing 24 rounds, they would have a mutual admiration.

Its not a personal hate more of a competitor type shhh when u meet that peer of yours. Yet from ggg standpoint cant blame em if there is hate. Its like whatever i do its never enough even when clearly beat em like the first fight . being a human being and putting self in shoes. You can understand the bad blood. Then u go in the 2nd fight thats a draw of going tic for tac its like all yall do is draw eachother yet canelo cause the A side gets gifts sometimes from judges lara mayweather and both ggg fights more so the 1st fight the 2nd was a draw n at best split dec for nelo when punch output n action is equal canelo only gets the edge for being the 1 coming foward in 2nd fight

It’s because GGG claimed Canelo deliberately cheating and taking steroids. That really pissed canelo off

I don't think GGG is the nice guy he's portrayed to be by the media. I mean the dude straight up fantasizes about killing someone in the ring. It's not just a Canelo thing either, he also has a bad rep among his fellow countrymen fighters based on interactions with him.

Here's a Kazakh fighter Bobirzhan Mominov comparing his experiences with Canelo and GGG (google translated):

Question: By the way, after the first joint training camp with Saul Alvarez, did Golovkin's team personally have any complaints against you? Maybe there were any grievances expressed?

              - "I'll tell you briefly my story. I was born and raised in Shymkent, however, due to a number of circumstances, in 2007 we moved to Karaganda. Gena and I are connected by one common coach - Galym Kalievich Kenzhebaev, with whom I began to train after the move. Gena [GGG] knows about it. When I became the winner of the international tournament in memory of Galym Zharylgapov and won the car, Gennady personally handed me the keys to it.

When I made the decision to become a professional, then, first of all, through my coach I went to Gena to consult. Still, it was a serious step in my career. To which Gena reacted without enthusiasm, saying that here in America everything is very expensive, training with Sanchez would also not be affordable for me. In general, he has demonstrated that he is not particularly willing to help in this matter. I didn't need his finances. Rather I needed more moral support. At that time, he had a name, and he could at least recommend a manager and coach with whom he could work. I didn't come out of nowhere, we have a common homeland, one common coach.

Galym Kenzhebaev (former coach) flew to Las Vegas for the first fight against Canelo, I personally met him and, to the best of my ability, tried to show the sights of the city. The most unpleasant thing is that then, after the fight, Gena did not even bother to come and say hello to his mentor. With the person thanks to whom he achieved success in the amateur ring. The same situation with Ruslan Madiev is indicative. He still does not make a lot of money in the professional ring, and Gena for some reason decided that he owes him 100 thousand dollars. I know cases when our boxers in the USA approached him with a request to just take a picture, and he refused them. Probably money changes a person. Maybe he thinks that we need something from him, that we will ask him for something, and therefore avoids communication with his compatriots. I don't need anything from him. And I wish him no harm. Me and our other boxers are going our own way."

Is Canelo noticeably different from Golovkin in this regard?

-" Of course. I'll just give you one simple example. When I arrived at Canelo's training camp, at that moment I had problems with my manager. To break the agreement, I needed 7 thousand dollars. And Canelo personally gave this money to me in cash so that I could resolve this issue. Then I had the option of signing a contract with GOLDEN BOY. You are asking me about Alvarez. So, Canelo has the highest human qualities. It is simple. Even when he enters the hall, he himself is the first to say hello, he will greet everyone. Probably, this is a trait of his character, a boxer who is at the top of the world. For example, we communicate with the Americans who were in Gena's training camp, and they all note his "tight-fisted" in money matters. You can believe this or not believe it, I just ran into Golovkin myself, and I personally had an unpleasant aftertaste."

ggg opened his mouth and talked crap, jumping the gun without doing any research when canelo failed the drug test in 2018. That started it all.

For canelo he resented the fact that he was labeled a ducker for not having fought ggg right away and dropping the belt before their first meeting. He was then called a runner and robber for the way he fought the first fight and the decision controversially being ruled a draw. Then he was called a cheater for the failed drug test, and had to give ggg a bigger purse in order for the fight to even go through.

On gggs side, he wanted the canelo fight sooner but had to wait a few years before it happened. Then when it did happen he got a draw in a fight most people thought he clearly won. Then before the rematch the fight had to be pushed as canelo failed a drug test. The fight happened and canelo got the decision even though he felt he won.

Both guys have real animosity towards each other imo based on the events mentioned above. I don't think its strictly a competitive rivalry there's definitely some bad blood
