Comments Thread For: De La Hoya, Garcia, Canelo, Reynoso Have Newfangled Relationships To Navigate

By Manouk Akopyan - The top shelf of Golden Boy's cupboard was left barren once Canelo Alvarez filed a lawsuit against the promotional company and DAZN and was later released from his contract. The development was arguably the biggest in boxing during 2020. Even after all of the fractures in their relationship had surfaced in recent years, it was a prolific knockout...

In the Real world of fighting, between men, if you truly fear a man, you don’t play his game. Who walked who down in the rematch? “So scared” and 24 rounds makes no sense. But of course “Soul Survivor” the Pacterd would make such claims. Bob Arum: “manny scared of needles doe”

"The 2019 trainer of the year and power broker Reynoso is promising nothing but a harmonious and business-first relationship moving forward with De La Hoya as he transforms the still-green boxer."

Yeah, ok! Now that Reynoso is basically running Canelo promotions, look for Garcia to follow them out the GBP door.

If Oscar doesn't know what went wrong promoting Canelo, then he truly is an irredeemable drug addict that is still in crisis.

"After this fight, I will consider Ryan not just the face of Golden Boy Promotions, but the face of boxing,” De La Hoya is quoted as saying in the article.

Who knows, maybe one day Garcia could become the face of boxing, but the comment about is delusional.

Yes, Garcia may well be the face of Golden Boy, but even if he beats Campbell soundly he will still be well behind Canelo and several others in terms of fame and clout.

Purse is trash and a great 2021 would be Campbell beating her soundly.

Purse can’t be the face of boxing fucc that. Besides Virgil Ortiz takes a giant peanuts filled chit on purse.

No one in the mainstream knows or cares about either Ryan Garcia or Luke Campbell. Ryan Garcia beating Luke Campbell might mean something to people who follow boxing, but it means nothing to joe public.

In the UK, Anthony Joshua is mainstream. Maybe Garcia will end up doing the same in the US one day (though I doubt it, just because boxing has so long been removed from the mainstream, with ony the very occasional outlier like Mayweather)... But beating Luke Campbell will not put him there.

Whether you like it or not, Canelo commands the biggest bucks in boxing and is widely accepted as the face of boxing (and, yes, your average sports fan may not know who he is).
