In the meantime, it's not really fair to call someone a bum while they are simply dominating the best available competition until the top fighters stop using the "who has he fought?" or "he's not a draw" excuses.
    Exactly my point

I appreciate the eye test actually. Resume is for a non-bias argument where as eye test is decidedly bias.

You may not like punchers and so will always be overly critical on your eye test. A good resume requires you yield some ground though.

That said, Jack Dempsey and Mike Tyson are all the proof in the world what the eye test can do. Casuals do not give a **** about resume, at all. Mike kinda got there but he was already massive. Jack's resume is turds and his fans will defend it with history centered around learned men who watched Jack and praised him, that's just bringing out ye olden eye test.

Most people here don't have the balls to attack Dempsey. For good reason, his is probably the single greatest eye test legacy of all time. Keep it on resume and Jack's really a mid tier ATG at best.

These are good points, but for everyone who passed the eye test who was eventually exposed for being not as good as people thought, there are also plenty of all time great fighters who people predicted would be all time great fighters before they ever caught a big name.

Maybe because guys like Tyson, Hamed, Broner, GGG all looked like the BEST boxer EVER until they weren't... Heart is the one stat you can't put on paper or see fighting BUMS

Right but like I just said there are plenty of fighters who people predicted would be legit before they ever fought big names. Just cuz GGG didn't look great against Canelo doesn't mean that Andrade won't look great against top comp. I agree with you on the heart thing though.

Also a lot of people who knew boxing pointed out weaknesses in those guys before they lost.

And thats why they fight! Look at Loma! Great Amateur career, great eye test. But lost to Salido who had 12 losses. Eye site wise everyone said Loma EASY but then a dog fight happened and he wasn't ready...

some people can see 20/20, some need glasses, some are totally blind

it's who u fought, when u fought them, the conditions under which u fought them (travel, turnaround, catch weights, preparation) & the most important thing in close and some not so close fights, the officials on the night

Absolutely agree. If you can't spot a good prospect your opinions don't matter as much.
