Well wilder fury was a contract yeah but it was expired, if wilder had wanted it though - yes it would’ve happened just like Whyte is insisting on this rematch

If there were any it was far and few between unlike today.

In the 90s when a fighter lost he moved on and may have revisited that opponent down the road. There was constant movement in boxing. In the 90s Povetkin would have been immediate WBC mandatory.

But no, we have to deal with Hearn garbage rematch clauses that locks out a legit claim and will lock the WBC for god knows how long
If the WBC actually let Whyte have his shot, we wouldn't have even had the first fight.

If there was no rematch clause, there is no way that Povetkin would be getting a shot at the WBC belt next.

If he was American, he would be talking like Andy Ruiz after he KO’ed Joshua. Acting like he is now a big shot.

As much as I hate the WBC they did however repeatedly tell Whyte he had a mandatory to fight and each time he kept fighting his own opponents. Whyte has no one to blame but himself for not fighting the mandatories designated by the WBC. Is the WBC corrupt? Sure.

If someone declines a mandatory they are removed from the spot .

Whyte won his official mandatory against Rivas .

Whyte was never told to fight anyone by the WBC , that was wilder (and his fans) who were continuously putting the fight off
