Having a belt means you're entitled to a fight against the other champions in your division.

If you're a champion and your goal isn't to fight other champions in your division and unify, then drop your belt and stop holding it hostage.

But it doesn't. Thus why the orgs don't rank another org's champion on their ranking list. You're never "entitled" to anything.

My assumption is that he deserves a big fight because most boxing people who cover the sport think he is a top level fighter. Also, there appears to be a market demand for him to fight Spence. So, top level fighter plus market demand equates to deserving a big fight.

He is discussed by many as up there in the p4p rankings, therefore deserves a shot.....personally I think he’s overrated but unpopular opinion

We need to talk about the source of that demand. Which is 'eye test', not resume at 147.

I said it before, if we're going to just stop caring about the quality of opposition, I question why someone like Berlanga isn't being called #1 P4P or why they aren't clamoring to have him fight the top guy in the division.

In other words, when did we stop caring about guys beating elite and dangerous opponents?

The orgs are what's wrong with boxing, so you can't be looking to the orgs to define what is good and true are you?

The goal of every fighter should be to be the true champion of the division their fighter at from a sportsman perspective.

The alphabets have been ruining boxing for 40 years.

Ultimately, no fighter is obligated to fight for belts. Them doing so is why they've lost credibility.

Rid**** Bowe tossing his WBC in the trash should have been the start of more fighters pushing back.

They've lost credibility because more guys aren't intent on unifying.

If holding 1 belt made it more likely for guys to fight the guys who held the other belts, the belts would be a great addition to boxing, but too many guys are happy to hold belts hostage and fight nobodies while there's another guy in the same weight class they should be fighting.
