Dude, Loma fought a much bigger unification fight against Lopez and both fighters were under Top Rank. That fight was marinating for 18-24 months. That was a much better bigger fight than Loma vs Haney with a lot more $ on the table. It wasn’t Loma ducking Haney, it was simply Loma taking a much bigger unification fight that had already been built up.

What does that have to do with him dropping the belt?

He could have kept it and still fought Teofimo.

I don’t know if keeping the belt or not was an option in terms of doing the Lopez Fight immediately. I think most fighters and their promoters would take the freebie Franchise WBC tag anytime to avoid mandos and have the flexibility to move up and down between weight classes which is something that would matter
to Loma as he previously noted that 135 is not his preferred weight class. All I’m saying is that in my view, I don’t see anything that suggests Loma ducked Haney. If a mando fight were ordered between Haney and Loma and Loma then ditched the belts to avoid the fight, that would be a different story.

Haney would be the mandatory to Teofimo right now if Lomachenko/Top Rank hadn't asked for Franchise Champion status.

It was just another angle to freeze Haney out and keep Top Rank in control long term.

Teofim has a bunch of mandos now so Haney would be one of many. I don’t think Loma and Top Rank’s actions were taken to shut Haney out but were more about making the bigger fight with Lopez and giving Loma and Top Rank more flexibility. I do think Haney is very skilled and has big potential but that’s all it is until he proves it in the ring and fights a real fighter. The same can be said about Ryan Garcia whom we’ll learn more about against Campbell on Jan 2. I expect both Garcia and Haney to prove they are the real deal and have a big fight in the future. Garcia because of the KOs has been more entertaining and stirred up more excitement that Haney thusfar. I expect Garcia to KO Campbell in the early to middle round or win a competitive decision over 12. Garcia and Haney know one another well and fought a number of times in the amateurs and hopefully they don’t swerve one another in 2021 but don’t be surprised if they do.

Again, the bigger fight with Lopez could have been made without them asking for Franchise Champion status and dropping the belt.

They only did that to avoid having to fight Haney afterwards.

If u have to ask. You have no reasoning skills. We all know Haneys resume. If u don’t. Look it up. I don’t know one name on it other than that geriatric boxer Gamboa.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. I think Loma had the chance to get the WBC Franchise Freebie where Loma could move down to 130 if and when he wanted and he took it. Most fans would probably take it if they were fighters. I really don’t think Loma and his team have given much if any thought to fighting Haney, let alone worrying about Haney and ducking him.
