He's managing his career smartly. There are definitely some cherry pick in there but there are also some good opponents.

lost to mayweather, lost to ggg twice. only decided to fight ggg after he looked human against jacobs and was a couple years older. didn't want anything to do with ggg before. canelo a cherry picker.

smith a paper champ (lost to ryder), and kovalev old and pretty much a paper champ (gifted the belt with an easy fight).canelo quickly vacated the wbo belt to avoid beterbiev and bivol.

Kovalev wasn't ranked #1 at 175 since before the Ward fight. Going into the Canelo fight, TBRB had Bivol and Gvozdyk ahead of him. Ring had Beterbiev ahead of him also.

And you just talking about name's and not the circumstances, e.g. Smith hadn't fought for more than a year and came in on effectively 3 weeks notice - he cashed out. Not saying he was good, he got pummelled by Ryder and Smith's best win was a win over an 'over the hill' George Groves who himself won a vacant title.

Kovalev - was that was a 'hey buddy. you and me are buddies, here's a career high payday to just play the part'... after Kovalev went life and death with some Euro bum called Yarde (6 or so weeks earlier).

@160- Fought old Golovkin but still no prime Andrade or Charlo. Tests positive for Clen.

@168- Doesn’t fight Plant or Benavidez, fights bum Rocky Fielding and Callum Smith.

@175- Doesn’t fight Beterbiev or Bivol, fights old shot Sergei Kovalev.

What’s next? Will he fight Beterbiev when he’s 37 and looks vulnerable?

Here’s a better idea- move up to Heavy and fight Wilder once Wilder has a few more losses and surgeries and looks completely done. Then he can call himself “the heavyweight champion of the world” and his fans will eat it up smh.
What about Liam Smith? What about Avni Yildirim (because now he has to fight a mandatory who lost his last fight as well and got busted for PEDs as well - all of a sudden he wants to fight his mandatories which the WBC have ear marked lol).

Good luck to Canelo - i don't blame him for it, i blame the promoters and the disgusting "organisations" making 30 odd titles in the one division which is obviously the currency that these cherry pickers use ...

With the current Social media crap and Casuals fans, you will be seeing more and more of this..

At a time when the biggest draw in the sport is Mike Tyson followed closely by two YouTubers, the sport is on the cusp of being WWE.... I'm watching Ryan Garcia closely, he has more social media than any of the boxers i think, so he could (or should) do another Canelo and cherry pick his way to a hundred million or so dollars).

The problem with all the Canelo nut huggers (TBH i haven't met many non Latino nut huggers), is that they think that if we say he is a cherry picker, that we mean that he is a crap fighter.... we are not saying that (well i'm not), of course he's a gun, but he's FAR from being what he is being portrayed as by a certain demographic.

Canelo will train for an opponent for month's, do his PED cycles, then only at the very last possible minute, inform the opponent that he is getting the contract, and he can do that, because he has the power to do so... i guess he learnt these tactics from Floyd.

This is why i always rate the Amateurs over pros for pure skill, they rock up at a tournament and you fight each other..

Exactly. And people are saying "Smith and Canelo had the same amount of training time!!" No, Smith had four weeks. 5 weeks out Plant thought he was getting the fight.
