supposedly it was Canelo who insisted on fighting Trout and Lara against what Golden Boy wanted. But when it came to ggg, he was suddenly at their mercy and had no choice? I doubt that. He didn’t have interest in fighting ggg until he felt there was less of a risk in doing so.Comment

Isn’t 70/30 what Spence vs Crawford are arguing now?Comment

You’re confused with the circumstances. Lara and Trout were under GBP for the Alvarez fights. In house splits are a lot easier to deal vs GBP and K2 going at it with splits. The WBC ordered GBP to cut a deal 2 weeks after Khan. Canelo was an accomplished PPv star. Where were the reports that Abel and Loeffler would agreed to any initial offer? If you can’t reach a deal it goes to purse bid. 70/30.

you seem to be confused with the details. Ggg became Canelos mandatory once canelo beat cotto. Ggg actually had to take step aside money for that fight to happen. Canelo opted for a voluntary against Khan and he and golden boy knew ggg would be forced to be his next opponent. If they had any interest in facing him, they could’ve began negotiations with him far in advance of the 2 weeks after the khan fight. Isn’t that exactly what they did over a year later when canelo was facing Chavez jr. ? So negotiating the purse split wouldn’t have been an issue if canelo really wanted the fight. The issue that prevented it from happening was the risk associated with the fight.Comment

his step aside fee was for cotto vs canelo. Prior to that I’d was Rubio who had to step aside for cotto to fight Martinez. Geale was a voluntary and khan was canelos voluntary which they’re allowed. Canelo did t want the fight so never bothered to negotiate with his known mandatory. Not sure what’s so hard to understand. He didn’t want rue fight back then.Comment

Gennadiy had no interest to defend his belt no less than 160. Months prior GGG said he’d fight the winner of May vs PAC at 154. There was also no rehydration clause for Canelo vs GGG, which means, at 155-159, GGG wouldn’t have been hindered performance since he was willing to fight PAC or Floyd. In fact, of GGG fought Floyd or PAC at 154, there may have been a rehydration clause.
Point is, GGg had the opportunity with Canelo before the Cotto fight. Canelo said it, it’s dated and online. GGg on the other hand said say Canelo was “175” from 155, “too big.” This is all GGG lying and avoiding Canelo because GGG was fooling the media that he could compete at 154-160 let alone 168. GGG made it clear with handlers that they would only step out of their comfort zones for the right money. How was Canelo, the cash cow, not an important fight for a defense from 155-160. GGG and K2 never made a headline to offer a catchweight for the title fight. Canelo never requested a catchweight title fight for GGG. Such a request doesn’t exist.Comment

Canelo was the cash cow of the sport, you move on his time line, not the other way around. If Canelo felt any insecurity about a Middleweight title fight he would’ve pushed for the limit at 160 against Cotto. Instead he fought where he consistently fought since after Floyd, which was 2 years later. Before the Cotto fight, Canelo even told media that if GGg wanted to fight it would have to be at his weight which was, again, consistently, at 155.

a lot of words but still no valid point. Canelo was actually the B side in negotiations for Cotto so 155 was cottos demand. Canelo actually said he wanted 160 for that fight but had to deal with cotto being a diva. Obviously he changed his tune after that to fit his narrative of not being ready to move up to 160. Canelo would’ve moved up if ggg never existed. He didn’t want the fight and proof was how he took 3 chump fights before facing ggg. Not to mention his weight excuse about needing time to move up 5 pounds has clearly been exposed as bs since he’s jumped up larger amounts of weight in a single fight since then. The difference again was the risk associated with the opponent he did that for.Comment

Where did media disclose that Canelo wanted Cotto at the full 160? Dan Rafael and media disclosed that Canelo wanted Cotto at 154 after losing to Floyd. Cotto turned down $10mil for a Canelo fight and went after Sergio Martinez. Therefore, I doubt Canelo asked for 160. Eventually Canelo wanted the challenge at Cotto for the Middleweight crown. Where’s the link for Canelo wanting the 160 limitComment
