I see some people saying Canelo SHOULD fight the Charlo bros. & I think at one point that may have been accurate. But in 2020 HELL TO THE NO! The only Charlo Canelo should be considering is Jermall. I'm confused on something... When did they become this package deal? This interchangeable fighter? Like you can swap one out for the other & it's an equal threat? It's becoming harder & harder to find ppl to talk boxing with because they don't delve beyond the surface. I think most of the people who are aware of them don't know the difference between them. Jermall is CLEARLY the better fighter & if he was still able to make 154 he would reign over each & every name in that division right now!
The current 154lb division as I've been saying is an overrated division. I see a fighter or 2 with A level potential but I haven't seen anything that impressed my eyesight enough to say unequivocally there's any A level fighters there.
Jermell would &/or has beat these fighter(s) now but it doesn't change my takeway...
▪Did not see the fight but I've heard when he faced Demetrius Hopkins it was a controversial decision.
▪He had a closer fight with Vanes than Andrade did & he was KD in the fight!
▪John Jackson out boxed him at least 5 rounds straight & Charlo was CLEARLY losing that fight. Credit to Charlo for getting the stoppage he needed, but if you seen the fight you know he only got the KO cause Jackson did one of the most weirdest in explainable things in the fight. Something happened with his eye or something & he turned around then Charlo hit him & eventually stopped him..
▪The Charles Hatley fight was terrible to me. Charlo was just the better of the unpolished two. That was my only time seeing Hatley but I wonder how did he even make it to that level fighting like that. They both were sloppy but Charlo was less sloppy. Hatley is... I don't even have words for it
▪Tony Harrison was brought back from obscurity. He was brought in to lose to Charlo (ppl seem to forget that) the 1st fight, the same way Rosario was (I won't get into that). Charlo was incorrectly perceived by the general public to be levels above him & he ends up going life & death, getting out boxed in spots & loses his title in a close fight. I DID NOT WATCH THE REMATCH. But from what I understand most people had Tony winning going into whatever round Charlo stopped him in, but the judges had Jermell up. From what I understand, (I could be wrong) he only stopped Tony cause he clipped him while he was showboating, but whatever.....
These 2 fights aren't even that long ago...
To bring it all full circle & make my point. The guys he's fighting aren't even A level guys wtf lol. He's being out boxed in spots, having controversial decisions, & going life & death with what? C+/B level fighters at best? He would have zero chance to beat Canelo. At the times Canelo fought these guys & at the weight he fought them at he loses to Floyd obvs, Lara, him & Cotto is 50-50, GGG twice, Jacobs, Kovalev, Callum. That's 6-7 names, smh.
