Comments Thread For: Casimero Embraces Showdown With Guillermo Rigondeaux

WBO bantamweight champion Johnriel Casimero has embraced the possibility of a showdown with two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux. Rigondeaux won a vacant title from the World Boxing Association in February, when he beat Venezuelan Liborio Sols by unanimous decision at 118 pounds. He picked up the belt after a long reign in the super bantamweight division, where he won two belts.

Casimero's character is like a breath of fresh air. Very much welcomed in today's state of boxing.

Hadn't smell that air since Mayorga

Rigondeaux is a boring fighter whilst Casimero is a warrior.

Rigo is washed. Casimero and Inoue both sleep him.

I can see Casimero eating some shots from Rigo and eventually knocking him out. Rigo has looked vulnerable his last 2 fights. This is an interesting matchup.

                well, its not a unification.

its a good matchup. hell its a really good matchup.

this is a great matchup for the PBC championship. i kept hearing they was gonna do a whole bantamweight tournament. they have a few good bantamweights and just jacked a WBA trinket belt from manny rodriguez with some quality rigged judging.

First, we’ve see regular champs do unifications before, so it’s still is a unification.

Second, it’s a WBC interim trinket not WBA

Third, there never was a rightful belt between Gaballo and Rodriguez. That was between Oubali and Donaire and they should rightfully fight for that belt next. Rodriguez can rematch Gaballo but that belt should be dissolved

I like Casimero but I fear for him should he takes on the Rigo fight.

That’s not surprising though cause it runs in their blood. Anybody who takes on Rigo have balls of steel just like Donaire and Casimero.

We’ve seen quality champs who shamelessly ducked Rigo.
