Comments Thread For: Josh Warrington Aiming For Fresh Peaks in 2021, Eyes Xu Clash

By Tris Dixon - It's not been the storybook year Josh Warrington had anticipated. The IBF featherweight champion had hoped to unify and add to his belt collection while bolstering his bank balance but not much has happened on either front. Instead, he's turned 30 and lost a year of his prime to the global implications of coronavirus. Still, Warrington's positive disposition has...

Featherweight has become a stagnant division where the best never face one another.

But if they ever do.... It'll be a red hot division to say the least

Had forgot all about Warrington, after the Stevenson fight fell through. Shame, because it can be argued he has the best resume at FW. I think Russell and Navaratte stop him if they fight. But I still want to see those bouts. Unfortunately this is a sub-par division atm, and none of the champs seem interested in unifying. Hopefully he gets back in the ring early 2021, against a non-domestic level contender.

Warrington has been facing the best none stop. He fought Selby, then Frampton. He then fought maybe the best contender at the weight in Galahad. Now he's unifying with Xu. He wanted Valdez and Stevenson after they had all the talk but both ran away.

What you mean is, North Americans don't fight the best. But that's all divisions. The UK, Russia, Japan and Ukraine are doing fine in wanting the best competition. They're real fighters who get down to business and do their talking in the ring, not outside of it only to run when the offer comes in.

The Warrington fight with Xu is a unification.

Russel, the nobody with not a single good world class win on his resume and no stoppages of note, stops Warrington??? Not in this life or the next. Russell doesn't even win that fight. Warrington takes it in a pretty wide UD.

You really think Navarette can stop him? I feel that Warrington can outbox him if he stays focused. Navarette tends to get sloppy with his punches and is strictly a head hunter. I could be wrong though. I’d love to see a unification bout between Warrington and Navarette.

"That final chapter could start against Xu. Warrington is 30-0 and he hopes to add Xu’s WBA belt to his IBF crown."

well, LSC has the WBA featherweight title. can xus trinket is a not one of the 4 major titles and does not unify with the 4 major world titles.

check the rankings. thisis as of nov 30.

no its not. LSC is still the WBA 126 champ.

can xu is bad ass but hes got a trinket belt that, not being one of the 4 major world titles, doesnt unify with the 4 major world titles.

Leo is now staying at 130 full time. The WBA are making it for the full title alongside the Ring belt. This is a legit unification.
