  • Comments Thread For: Lerena vs. Laggoune Set For Inaugural WBC Silver Bridgerweight Title, March 13

Boxing's newest weight division now has its first official title fight of sorts on the books. Fresh off of a recent rust-shaking win earlier this month, Kevin Lerena will now dip his toe into the shallow waters of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Bridgerweight division. The top-rated cruiserweight from Johannesburg, South Africa will next face Belgium's Bilal Laggoune for WBC "Silver" Bridgerweight title, to take place March 13 at the famed Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, South Africa.

Wow. Is it April fools and not Christmas? Enough of a joke that they have created a new division. And now they are already committed to multiple belts in that fake division!

Lol. Silver belt. Keep that doe rolling in Morris. I'd just about come to terms with a new BS division and now this.

This is shameful, as if Boxing needed a new division or more meaningless belts.

Bridgerweight, what's that? The WBC are being ridiculous now, more than that franchise belt nonsense.

They could have just said, super heavy for the really big boys. The idea isn't ridiculous, but acting like it's a new idea with a trick name and a new cast of characters. Like a new soap opera, no depth, no stars, short season.
