It isn't Beterbiev's fault I'll say that much. Beterbiev is a warrior and fights anyone, and he is 36 in January so time is of the essence. Bivol has also talked about going DOWN in weight to SMW.

That is the fight I am really interested in, it should happen in 2021.
One of the best fights in the game right now.

Why must only Canelo only get big fights? Among certain boxing fans and say fighter b resume sucks so fighter a don't have to fight certain styles.

It's just as much Beterbiev's fault as Bivol's fault because Beterbiev is Russian just like Bivol is, and that's the real reason the fight didn't happen last year in my opinion. All the boxing $$$ is in America and the UK. In the US, GGG crossed over, Pacquiao crossed over, Lomachenko and Kovalev I thought crossed over but judging by what happened, I think maybe they didn't, otherwise they'd probably still be winning. I thought Usyk crossed over in the UK, but time will tell let's see what happens.

Beterbiev and Bivol though, well, Beterbiev vs Gvozdyk apparently had trouble selling tickets, and Gvozdyk is probably better known in the US than Bivol. But I think it's sort of unfair because they did sell 6k tickets with a terrible uncard, or 5k or something, and that's more than all but maybe 10 or 15 boxers in the sport can sell without an undercard.

But I think the point is, it's diminishing returns. It's still better than 90% of the top guys in the sport, but the promoters dont care about that. They just care if it's in the top 1% where the fights make hundreds of millions. Outside of that, they don't care.

Think of it is this way. Beterbiev vs Bivol is a pretty big fight. Bigger than 95% of the fights, yes. But it's not as big as Lomachenko vs Mikey. It's not as big as Lomachenko vs Tank. It's not as big as Spence vs Crawford.

And those fights weren't big enough to get made.

That's the real story. Most likely what will happen is Gvozdyk will come back from retirement to fight Bivol, to try to build up the Beterbiev fight. Then maybe it will happen just so the winner can lose to Canelo. DAZN need Canelo opponents. Everything at 175 just seems to be about nothing besides trying to build up at least one name opponent for Canelo, because Canelo is the big attraction and he needs opponents. I wouldn't look forward to anything but Beterbiev and Bivol being a complete letdown vs Canelo like most Canelo opponents and Floyd opponents before him have been. If the Canelo train gets derailed, a lot of powerful people lose out on a lot of earnings. Who is going to take over for him as the PPV king? Beterbiev? Bivol? Maybe if they'd had all the opportunities and promotion that Canelo has had since age 20 in the US, they could, but they didn't. I dont know why not, but they didnt.
