Yes. It is a bronchodilator. No it would not be prudent to take it on fight day. Because it causes tremors and a fever. Which is much more energy draining than a little bit of extra oxygen could warrant. But the dogs are swimming underwater. So it makes sense that they can swim farther. If boxers had to hold their breath for the duration of each round, it might help. But in almost every federation, they are allowed to breath. I think perhaps it’s less of a saying and more of a parable? Sporting dog lie. That’s a fact. So why not ‘let sporting dogs lie.’ I don’t know. I’ve never heard that saying. I should probably get out more.
