Munguia will take a beating. Golovkin eats a lot of punches, but Munguia eats a lot more and his punches are sloppy. This will be a short war, with Golovkin eventually overwhelming Munguia with his better placed punches and overall experience.

This is exactly how it plays out. GGG may have lost a step but its going to take a highly skilled fighter to expose it.

GGG versus Munguia would br an interesting fight for as long as it lasted. That said Munguia can't beat GGG, because he catches to many punches. The punches that he was able to absorb from other fighters, would be his doom coming from GGG fist. Unless of course Munguia was able to land one of those looping punches, and cause a fight ending cut.

I'm not saying Munguia would win. But if his stamina and chin hold up until the later rounds...

The promoters want everyone in with Canelo except for those who can make a fight of it. GBP wants a showcase fight wherein a Mexican vs Mexican will appeal to the ultranationalistic Mexican-Americans who worship Mexican fighters.....and on Cinco de Drinko to boot. Everyone wants to milk the Canelo money train....
