Comments Thread For: GBP Prez: Munguia Deserves Shot At Golovkin, Has Cinco de Mayo Weekend Written All Over It

Gennadiy Golovkin doesn't need to look very far in search of his next willing challenger. Former junior middleweight titlist Jaime Munguia has seen his name floated as a person of interest to next take on the two-time middleweight titleholder. That fight very much remains in play after Golovkin had his way with miserably overmatched mandatory challenger Kamil Szeremeta, scoring four knockdowns en route to a 7th round stoppage win Friday evening at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Munguia will take a beating. Golovkin eats a lot of punches, but Munguia eats a lot more and his punches are sloppy. This will be a short war, with Golovkin eventually overwhelming Munguia with his better placed punches and overall experience.

If GGG really wants a 3rd fight with Canelo, then he should be looking to fight BJ Saunders ASAP! Same goes for Andrade! Saunders has the WBO SMW title!

That's real talk! Everyone from 160-168 on DAZN should be begging for BJ Saunders! Everyone from 160-168 with PBC should be begging for a fight with Caleb Plant too!

Man, what did Jaime ever do to DAZN? It's just straight sadism to propose a GGG-Munguia fight. What a fight probably, but neurosurgeons better be ringside and prepped.

I think you're underestimating Golovkin. Yes he's slower than he used to be but his head movement and footwork is decent under Jonathan Banks and Munguia never seems to really get much better. I see GGG jabbing his face off and breaking him down for a late stoppage or UD.

I like Mungia and love his desire to fight ANYBODY but he is not ready for Canelo OR GGG

Saunders has had the opportunity to fight Golovkin and ducked him, just like he found a way out of the Andrade fight with his nasel spray story about testing postive. He doesn't really want to fight the best. He talks a lot about wanting to fight this guy and that guy but always ends up fighting shot guys like Martin Murray and the last dude he fought. Saunders has lots of talent but he's an underachiever and hasn't really proved anything in his pro career. He had to really utilize the ring to beat slow man Lemeuix. He would have to be on his bike all night to stay away from GGG which would make for a boring fight.
