Reports coming out of Los Angeles and published at the LA Times August 19th edition indicated that Bob Arum will definitely stage a rematch between Filipino-American Brian Viloria against Omar Nino Romero. As reported by Bill Dwyre, Arum told the LA Times that the bout will be held either at the Orleans Arena on November 16th, where Nino snatched Viloria’s title or as an under card on the much awaited Pacquiao-Morales III at the Thomas and Mack Center on November 18th.
Viloria lost his WBC Junior Flyweight title to Nino Romero via a unanimous decision last August 10th. Viloria’s performance, or rather his “non-performance” has been a subject of lengthy discussions amongst the Filipino fight fans who felt that Viloria did not performed as a champion and gave away his title. Many writers speculated as to why Viloria lost, including “being in love” but Viloria himself has said that it was simply an “off day” and he has no other alibi why he lost.
Reports of Viloria changing trainer and training site also recently surfaced. Viloria’s camp apparently feels that with Manny Pacquiao booked to train for his third fight with Morales at the Wildcard Gym, Freddie Roach will be too pre-occupied and may not be able to concentrate in training Viloria for the very important grudge fight with Nino Romero. Viloria’s team is reportedly looking at shifting to Joe Goosen’s Gym in Van Nuys, California, practically a stone’s throw from his present residence in North Hollywood.
