Canelo is 5-8 and he’s cleaned out 154, 160, and 168. There a few challenges left for him there, but he’ll probably go to 175 because he wants a challenge. The right fighter will beat him at 175, but Canelo is an ATH now.

The same thing could happen to benavidez. At 168 ibs, I feel that caleb plant could trouble canelo as plant as the boxing smarts and doesn't lay down, and maybe billy joe saunders as well. Saunders can be very slippery and awkward for canelo.

No way in hell Plant beats Canelo, literally 0%. Plant is nice, really good fighter, Canelo would show him no respect, walk him down and beat him senseless. Benevidez would have a chance on shear activity, like Maidana against Floyd, just throw the kitchen sink and hope for the best. Still loses but could make it interesting. Charlo has the skill but he doesn’t have the heart, you take that dude in deep water he’s gonna drown, IMHO. Saunders would stink out the joint but he ain’t getting a decision over Canelo fighting the way he fights.

If you want to see Canelo in a real fight, give him Bivol at 175.
So we have to go all the way to 175 lbs to find someone that can allegedly beat Canelo?

Meanwhile what are Beterbiev and Bivol doing to build up their name recognition? Facing the likes of Deines? Or doing nothing at all as is the case with Bivol?

Those two should take a page out of Canelo's book and challenge themselves. Fight each other and unify light heavyweight while Canelo unifies super middleweight.

Right now of the guys within his weight range my top 3 with the best chance to beat Canelo would be:

#1 BJS - I think BJS is a slick mofo himself & when he's at his best he's a high boxing IQ cat who knows exactly when to turn it on & off to best use his energy while still winning rounds

#2 Benavidez - Agree with OP on Benavidez being a big tough grind on you all night kinda guy who could eek out a decision over Canelo in a fun ass fight

#3 Beterbiev - I think Canelo could box circles around Beterbiev , but all Beterbiev needs is to hit Canelo once solid & I think the fight could be over, Canelo would need a near perfect performance here, & while I think he's very capable of a near perfect performance I just think being too c#cky or too loose or too whatever at the wrong moment vs a guy like Beterbiev could be bad for Canelo

I'd honorable mention Mall & GGG, I think Mall showed a will to win vs Derevyanchenko that he's not had to show previously that makes him a greater threat to all the top guys including Canelo & I think GGG has already proven me wrong in the rematch where he was neck & neck with Canelo in a tight fight barely coming up short (& winning 7-5 on my card) when I was predicting a fairly uncompetitive Canelo W so I think it could very well happen again if they fight a 3rd time cuz GGG just don't seem to give a fook about my opinion of his chances.

Billy joe is slick as ****, but he has no power, I can see him more or less jabbing and running for 12 rounds.

I have always said that was the fight to make at 168
