Comments Thread For: A One Off or a New Approach for DAZN?

Once a week, a search through the cable channel guide insures anything with boxing in the title not already set for DVR gets, well, set. Last Sunday, the guide scrub found something unexpected. The channel for InDemand pay-per-view was showing boxing a 8 PM EST Saturday night. Saturday was already looking pretty full. Showtime has an excellent card and DAZN has the return of Saul Alvarez.

How the fook does this even make sense? You can buy DAZN's app for a month, including this fight, for $20 or you can buy the PPV just this fight for $70?!?!?!?!?!?!

Why would anyone buy the PPV for $50 more?

Edit: Oh nm see you get DAZN for 4 months for $70 if you take the PPV route.

Its not only that. By doing the PPV you now have the possible audience of the old timers that don't understand apps etc and possibly get a DAZN long term subscriber in the future.

PPV isn't dead if you have actual stars. PBC has no stars which is why theirs always flop, they then feed Coppinger inflated numbers to save face.

MOST people are not tech savvy, they don't understand all that App Stuff as far as downloading it, setting it up and getting it on their TV. This is why it is still a market for PPV, a lot of people would rather just press a button to order the PPV and then pay for it a month later with their next Billing Cycle instead of doing all that App Setup Stuff

So YES people end up paying way more than they should out of Ignorance really

No issue with DAZN offering PPV Alternative for that Older Audience who refuse to Cut the Cord and would rather pay more to stick with what they're just more comfortable with which is still Cable or Satellite TV. Just goes against their Own Model of "PPV Is So Screwed" "PPV Is Dead"

I personally prefer streaming. Subbed to dazn and like the content overall on their. Wish it was a lower price, since I sub to several other services.
