Not that I pretend to fully understand Canelo's rationale, but if I understood his remarks correctly, he (Canelo) represents Mexico when he fights. I guess that means that he then prefers to fight people from other countries so as no to confuse the issue. But that should not affect a fight with Benavides, because Benavidez is not Mexican. He is an American Boxer of Mexican and Ecuadoran heritage.

Obvious trolls and alts bumping this because of GGG criticism.

Newsflash. Yildirim was a narrative on PBC for 2 years. When Yildirim vs Canelo was a “topic” several months ago, Canelo haters scrambled to say Smith deserved the fight with Yildirim because he had the WBC Diamond belt or that Canelo was ducking Smith.

When GGg diehards realize they were wrong, they respond with replies like yours.

I agree with most of this. But I did say this "may" fall into that category. Last I checked most "Mexicans" born in the US or not still say they are Mexican. Canelo probably regards Benavidez as Mexican even though he is born in the US. Maybe he does not want to have his countrymen fight each other and instead wants to support them. Who knows.
