Good point. Canelo is skilled but is gun shy in big fights. He should go hard to the body and be more aggressive because this kid is not skilled enough for him.

Canelo as great as he is defensively couldn’t seem to avoid a jab against GGG. If Smith & his team haven’t realized that or haven’t worked on perfecting his jab he’s gonna get ate up to the body. He’s gotta throw that jab hard and sit down on his counters, and maybe ring Canelos bell a few times

Kov tried it but he wasn’t his usual ramrod jab he was mostly using throwaways and pity pat jabs. He also wasn’t sitting down on any hard straight rights to deter Canelo. His plan was to tap tap, keep Canelo outta range. Nelo eventually started taking the risk and ate a few to get to him and caused Kov to let his guard down over the course of the fight in anticipation for a body attack & then we all know what happened.

All that said I’m predicting a UD12 for Canelo but hoping Smith rises to the occasion and pushes Canelo for a nail biter like against GGG, I just don’t think Smiths the guy for the job. I don’t think we’ll see Canelo in that kinda fight again unless it’s against Beterbeiv
Good post/breakdown. That is likely what Kov thought - keep the jab out there and keep him at bay. But after taking GGG's jab, I guess Canelo paid no mind to the one Kov was putting out there.

I think Callum takes more of an immediate risk if he tries to sit down on the jab and hold the ring though; he will cede a serious speed and quickness disadvantage and if he can't back Canelo up with his jab, I don't know if he will want to be sitting in front of Canelo, waiting for the body work.

Idk I just can't see Smith holding up here. And that's more kudos to Canelo than anything. If the Smith that showed up vs Ryder shows up, he has to get stopped, I imagine.

I think, for whatever reason, he is finding his power too. It seems to move up with him as he moves up in weight. If he gets off half of the shots that Ryder did, Smith is getting stopped I think.

Should be a good fight. Looking forward to it. Canelo looking too good to me, I favor him by stoppage.

BX I believe you have hit the nail on the head. Good thing about Mundo is he has a significant age advantage compared to Kov.

As famous trainers past & current always say, use your reach and keep the opponent away using the stick (jab). Callum could technically box his way to a decision but I’m afraid he will engage with Canelo because he believes he is the bigger guy and that will be his downfall because Canelo will break him down to the body when Callum comes in to engage.

Canelo looks much fresher to me. I see it as somewhat similar to Kov fight, but I just think smith is sharper at processing and has faster hand speed. I just can't see Smith being able to beat Canelo but I expect Canelo to take a lot of shots - more than usual - on his way to victory.

Don't worry the fight has already been scripted

Not this fight. He cherry picked Smith to show case his skills and he walks right through him. Has anybody on this site actually watched Smith fights? He's tall skinny with little power and no footwork.

Canelo by UD. Smith has never beeb rocked in his career and he's a good fighter, but imo he's too one dimensional to beat canelo

Smith will have to make this one a mitch green vs mike tyson fight...needs to be agressive and keep canelo away with jabs and rights, he got the reach needs to use it to his advantage.
