What has been frustrating me is the lack of activity in what is arguably the deepest division currently in boxing.
    What is Beterbiev doing?
    What is Bivol doing?
Yarde, Smith Jr, Jack, Browne, Buatsi, Mikhalin, plus all the solid fringe contenders, journeyman - the WBO belt has been sitting idle for way too long.
The only fight worthy of note in the last few years has been Beterbiev v Gvozdyk. (Canelo v Kovalev doesn't count for me).
In the U.S you can't blame COVID because you guys would rather die for your freedom than go into lockdown to flatten the curve so WTF?

Although I used to love his style and aura, Kovalev is a living manual of how a champion has to behave to destroy himself and turn a legend of sport to a 'bum'. Courtesy of Vodka and bad habits... Now he's a pathetic journeymen out to milk money from his (gone) reputation of 'krusher'...

              True.
I'm a big fan of Sergey and I have bet some $ against him (despite not doing any gambliing ever). It was easy but sad money.

IMO if the reports about his bad alcohol habits were true, there is no way he would have been able to compete vs Alvarez in the rematch or Yarde. I think a lot of tabloid reports are just like reality TV, and, well, Kovalev's fight vs Canelo, even the way his rematch ended with Ward in hindsight, sort of looked like reality TV too. And the "he's just a drunk" storyline would definitely make a convenient alibi, wouldn't it? "I didn't lay down, I'm just an alcoholic so I suck now, didn't you see the newspaper?" Maybe it's fully true, maybe it's totally exaggerated. With the state of the modern media, we may never know. But true or not, I know that in my opinion, it still doesn't explain what we saw in the ring vs Canelo. Even a drunk concussed Kovalev should have had an easy time KOing someone so much smaller, with so much less bone mass.

Kovalev's jab nearly dropped Andre Ward, it hurt Yarde multiple times to body and head and stopped him late. These guys aren't just bigger than Canelo, they're like 4 divisions bigger, and in absolute tip top shape. Andre Ward is built a lot like Canelo, just like, 40 pounds naturally bigger. Yarde same thing, but more like 50. Kovalev's jab should have dropped Canelo every time it landed, the size difference is just too crazy, and Kovalev is a huge puncher vs people his own size let alone Canelo. That wasn't Spence vs Mikey type of size difference, that was like Spence vs Abner Mares levels of size difference. Yet Kovalev's punches looked like Paulie Malignaggi punches. It didn't make any sense. He should have looked more powerful than ever fighting someone so small, by far. It should have been something we had never seen before from Kovalev. The way his punches affected Silakh, someone also way bigger than Canelo, it should have been like that but twice more. Every punch that landed should have badly wobbled or dropped Canelo. It should have been a Kovalev KO between rounds 1 and 3. IMO it was actually comical watching what actually happened. It was like Kovalev was a parent playing with his child, but they were both taking it super seriously. So Canelo was performing like this bad ass but it was hilarious like the big parent much taller and stronger and more powerful and longer can only be reached by the kid, and can only prevent hurting the kid, if the parent lets the kid win and makes sure not to hit him except very lightly for play.

But that's just what I saw, and some elements of these things can be subjective. All I can do is give my opinion. But yeah I don't automatically believe excuses, or reports in the news that sound like instagram reports. Even when things get settled in lawsuits or whatever, there can probably be non-disclosure agreements in many cases, money settlements, there could be things going on behind the scenes. I don't want to say anything beyond that other than I am speaking purely in general here, not specific to any one reported incident. You brought up Kovalev but I am talking in general, just because I know you might ask "what about lawsuits," not about any one reported incident.

Really, I told myself I would mostly stop posting about boxing, but especially stuff like this specific to boxing or not, altogether, and I even posted that I would mostly stop, so I want to get back on track in that regard and stop talking about the potential negative regardless. Sometimes even when you're right about something like this, there is actually a much bigger reason, for the good, behind it that you can't say. Actually, there is always a much bigger plan, and always something much bigger behind everything, which of course God, but also on a human level, not that you can completely dilineate seeing as God made humanity and nothing exists without God permeating existence.

It's just been the holidays and stressing trying to do too much, plus two of my former favorite boxers having matches that reminded me of the BS in the "sport," that had me first more irritable in general, and then second, posting about the negative irritating aspects of boxing. It doesn't mean they're not true, obviously in my opinion I think they are and conclude that whether I'm irritated or not, it just means I wouldn't be posting about them probably at all if I wasn't irritated. But the last year I've been making a conscious effort to not allow emotional states to change my behavior, even if it's logical or justified on some level, but to be more stoic or unaffected by things I can't control and do not know the full story about anyway. Because as I said, I am getting irritated by things that seem negative or at least frustrating on the surface, frustrating in terms of how it appeared like one thing and I believed it but just IMO really it might not have been, yet it could be totally ridiculous that I'm getting irritated by it being negative on the surface because below the surface, it could actually be positive in like a billion times more important ways than even the negative appearance is negative, but I just dont know that because I don't know what's below the surface.

And if I did, I'd obviously be extremely happy, instead of irritated. But since I dont know, all I can see is what I can see, and what I see can still be pretty irritating given my experience watching Boxing the last 10 years. But I am definitely working on trying to attain a higher understanding and view of the situation so that my consciousness is not being trapped in a prism of my past experience, and able to see things more, I don't know if objectively is the word, but more divorced from my own personal little limited view of the world. It definitely hasn't been my finest last couple weeks in that way. But looking over the entire year, I definitely see steady, slow, but steady, growth and progress on the level of consciousness. And no, I'm not talking about what Deontay Wilder and Connor Mcgregor preach, lol. I probably sort of sound like that in this post. I just mean it straight forward what the words mean that I said.

This was a real long text but it sounds logical.

                    business is the reason.
Goldenboy owes Kovalev 2 fights with (I believe) a 1.5 million purse.

Kovalev isnt worth that money to Goldenboy, so they need to set him up with someone they have under contract who could be a future champion /headliner.
Bektemir is the only one under GB around that weight class.

If bektemir wins, his profile will grow a lot, if he beats him up badly, Kovalev might retire and they wont have to pay for the second fight lol.

Bek isn't jumping up any weight class. He's fought at 175 just as much as 168 and it's only 1 weight class anyway.
